Cacao beans in Honduras are unique because they are grown in the wild instead of on plantations. Several chocolate factories can be visited to try this tasty treat. There is a fantastic variety of duty-free boutiques and local souvenir shops in The Town Center shopping area at the Port of Roatán. Immerse yourself in the heritage of Roatan's original inhabitants at the Garifuna Village of Punta Gorda. Delight in a dance performance, see authentic dwellings, and taste yucca bread. Then, visit The Buccaneer, an eco-friendly educational project and heart of the French Harbour community, and take a swim in the Splash Lagoon.

Maya Key Private Island – Day Pass + Sealife Encounter
Excellent professional service with very knowledgeable and helpful tour guide and clear van. Initially our tour was started a little late due to parking issues and congestion in the port area, but later our tour guide made for it. Roatan is an island in the Caribbean, about 65 kilometers off the northern coast of Honduras. It is located between the islands of Utila and Guanaja and is the largest of the Bay Islands of Honduras. The island was formerly known in English as Ruatan and Rattan. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff is ready to assist you in planning the perfect shore excursion.

We loved going to Maya Key, The snorkeling was out of this world. You could bring your own gear but you did have to purchase a life vest to participate. Because we were on Royal Caribbean, we entered this port and made sure to book a Roatan excursion. Try the whole red snapper and a plate of parrilladas, a platter of grilled meats. The rice and beans in mojo sauce is one of the most popular dishes.
My parents are avid cruisers so they have done pretty much every Honduras excursion. There are monkeys, sloths, and lots of other exotic animals all over the island of Roatan. Everyone in our group of 22 had an opportunity for an animal encounter. Like I said before, the snorkeling is amazing in Honduras. All of these give you an option of transportation whether by car, kayak, or boat. In this post, we are going to list the best excursions in Roatan!
Is the tour private?
The diverse culture and unique natural wonders of Roatán make for a one-of-a-kind cruise port experience. Roatan is known for its excellent diving and this is your opportunity to enjoy a two-tank dive on part of the second largest barrier reef system in the world. The renowned Anthony's Key Resort, a premier dive facility is your home base, and two spectacular dives will be completed. Sail through the crystal-clear Caribbean waters off Roatan's coast aboard a 70-foot catamaran on a scenic cruise to one of the area's most spectacular snorkeling spots. Then enjoy a deluxe buffet style rotisserie chicken lunch and complimentary rum punch after snorkeling.
We’re flexible, if your plans change, let us know 48 hours ahead of your scheduled activities and we can change at no charge to you. If you have any questions join my Facebook Travel Community. You can ask any questions you have about upcoming trips and everyone is happy to help you plan your trip.
ADVENTURES
These boats have windows that are underwater in a “semi-submarine” experience. Choose a glass-bottom boat ride if you want to witness the gorgeous marine life in Roatán without the hassle of sand and sunburns. The best time to see sea turtles on land is during their nesting period from July to August, when they come ashore to nest on West Bay Beach and Paya Bay Beach. If you are in Roatán during the non-nesting months, you can also observe these beautiful sea creatures gliding in the crystal-clear waters. Look for the VIP pass, which includes drink vouchers, a lunch plate, a massage, horseback riding, and access to a less-crowded beach.
Animal lovers will enjoy a visit to the Iguana Farm, where you can observe and interact with these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat. Learn about their behavior and contribute to their conservation efforts while enjoying a unique experience with these ancient reptiles. We did the city tour, with sloths and rum cake factory and dolphin encounter. Simon our guide was funny, professional, and very knowledgeable. He had a wealth of knowledge and it was like a tour within a tour. From port pick-up to port drop-off, our professional drivers & tour guides are ready for your day in paradise.
Stretch out on a beach chair and get your tan on, plunge in the turquoise waters and snorkel, and indulge in a chef prepared lunch accompanied by an island drink. Enjoy a bird's-eye view of Mahogany Bay and your cruise ship as you glide over the treetops and across the aquamarine water aboard the new "Magical Flying Beach Chair" to Mahogany Beach. Relax on this 10-acre private island featuring a pristine sugar-sand beach and an abundance of water activities. For beer enthusiasts, a visit to the Roatan Island Brewing Company is a must. Take a tour of the brewery, learn about the beer-making process and savor a variety of craft beers while enjoying the tropical ambiance. This excursion is a perfect blend of education and relaxation, allowing you to indulge your taste buds while immersing yourself in the local culture.
You'll visit the tourist side of the island, with time to explore and purchase a drink. The excursion ends with a photo stop at a lookout point before returning to the pier in Coxen Hole. If you’re looking for an ethical dolphin encounter, this is as good as it gets. You can pay a fee to participate in activities like horseback riding, swimming with pigs, massages, manicures, snorkeling and scuba diving, kayaking, rope swings, and a gift shop.

The land in mangrove forests provides shelter for migratory birds and monkeys, so there is a good chance to see (and hear) unique Roatán wildlife. In Oakridge, you’ll board an authentic cayuco (a small motorized canoe), and travel with a guide through a canal dug out in the mangroves many years ago to connect the harbors and bays. Parts of the tunnel are barely wide enough for the boats to get through. It is an exceptional beach for swimming and snorkeling, and the location of a delicious Caribbean Grill called Ginger’s. If you are looking for an out-of-the-ordinary water sports experience, hydrobiking is an exciting choice. Hydrobikes have pedals like a traditional bicycle, but are on floats so you glide on top of the ocean.

Try our popular Reef Snorkel by Boat excursion and experience the aquatic wonders of Roatan. All our shore excursions and tours include round-way transportation from and to the Roatan Mahogany Bay cruise port. Our drivers will have you back at the cruise port 2 hours before the departure time of your cruise ship or base on your schedule, we are very flexible. Located between the island of Guanaja and the island of Utila is Roatan, the biggest of all the Honduras Bay Islands and known for housing the second-largest coral reef in the entire world. Roatan is a tropical paradise that offers a wide range of exciting excursions and activities for travelers to enjoy.
Visitors can expect to get up close and personal with many animal species native to Central America, including sloths, monkeys, agoutis, and tropical birds. Although there is no restaurant on site, most excursions to Daniel Johnson’s Monkey and Sloth Hangout include a stop at a favorite local restaurant for a seafood lunch. The Cayos Cochinos are a group of two large island and thirteen tiny coral cays between Roatan and the Honduran mainland. Together, they form a protected marine park with vibrant coral and lots of aquatic life.
